The provincial police watchdog is investigating after a 26-year-old Brampton man died Monday evening in a shooting involving police.
At around 6 p.m., Peel police received reports of a domestic situation near Sawston Circle, east of Chinguacousy Road.
According to a Special Investigations Unit news release, there was an altercation and two officers used conducted energy weapons then one officer “discharged his firearm multiple times.” The man was struck and died at the scene.
The SIU is an arm’s-length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
